ARTISTS BIOS


Candice Luo - Soprano

Candice holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Voice Performance from Western University. She studied under Barbara Dunn-Prosser and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Voice Performance under the guidance of Patricia Green. Her performance experience includes roles in opera productions, scene programs, and a wide range of recitals both solo and studio. With a strong interest in chamber music and pedagogy, it is her passion to foster musical engagement within the community. In addition to her vocal training, Candice has a strong background in piano, viola, and cello. Her early involvement in competitions, band and youth orchestras cultivated a lasting appreciation for musical collaboration. Currently, her focus lies in research and teaching. Her interest in art song is reflected in her work on lyric diction and her ongoing recital work.


Menelaos Menalaou - Violin

Menelaos was born in Cyprus, into a family of musicians. He took his first violin lessons from his father G. Menelaou, and at fourteen years old was accepted at the Central Music School of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he studied with K. Sementsov – Ogijevski and Z.Machtina. He continued his studies at the Moscow State Conservatory under G. Feigin and M. Fedotov, graduating in 1996 with Honors. In 2000, he completed the Post Graduate Course of the same Conservatory, in the class of Professor Z.Schichmurzaeva. Menelaos has given numerous recitals in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Sweden, Greece, Cyprus, and USA, and has performed as a soloist with the Ostrava Symphony Orchestra at the prestigious BHS Festival in Bratislava, and with the Cyprus State Orchestra. From 2001 to 2021 he lived in Cyprus, where in addition to his diverse solo and chamber music performances, he devoted himself to teaching and to developing a violin school on the Island, He taught violin at G. Menelaou Music School, at the Program for the Development of New Talents of the Ministry of Education and Culture, and at the European University of Cyprus.  In August 2021, Menelaos moved to London, Ontario where he is pursuing his Doctor of Violin Performance Degree at the Western University, studying under Dr. Annette-Barbara Vogel. His main fields of interest are 20th century and Contemporary music, as well as violin pedagogy.


Catalina Teican - piano accompaniment

Catalina, a native of Romania, holds degrees from The National University of Music Bucharest (BA), Bowling Green State University, USA (MA, Artist Diploma), and the University of Iowa (ABD). Catalina has performed in workshops and master classes with renowned pianists such as Gerard Frémy, Andre Watts, Garrick Ohlsson, and Daniel Shapiro, and she has participated in numerous national and international competitions and festivals as a soloist and chamber musician. Before moving to London, Ontario, Catalina lived in Cyprus for 14 years, where she maintained an active performing and teaching schedule and was recognized for her achievements as a chamber musician and piano teacher. She held teaching positions at the Nicosia Music School and G. Menelaou School of Music, and for ten years, served as the collaborative pianist for the Cyprus Young String Soloists. Catalina is currently pursuing a DMA degree in Collaborative Piano at Western University, studying with Dr. Angela Park.
