An Intimate Concert at the Gallery
Join us on Sunday May 3rd for a special concert — an afternoon of opera, set within the intimate atmosphere of the gallery.
These concerts are very close to our hearts. We believe it is essential that more established artists and spaces actively create room for emerging voices—to offer not only a stage, but trust, encouragement, and the chance to be heard. The artists we are working with come from our region, many from Western University, and it has been a privilege to witness their dedication, talent, and unfolding paths. In bringing them into the gallery, we hope to contribute, in a small but meaningful way, to a living continuum—where experience supports emergence, and new voices carry the art form forward.
We hope you will join us! Details below:

ARTISTS BIOS:
Candice Luo - soprano
Candice is a Cantonese-born soprano and doctoral candidate at Western University. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with honours in Voice Performance from Western, where she studied with Barbara Dunn-Prosser and currently studies under Patricia Green. Her performance experience spans opera roles, scene programs, and a wide range of solo and collaborative recitals, with a particular affinity for chamber music and art song. Her research focuses on Russian lyric diction and the operas of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Candice also maintains a strong instrumental background in piano, viola, and cello, with her passion for collaborative music rooted in early orchestral training.
Anthony Rodrigues - Baritone
Anthony holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Western University. He has enjoyed a performing career across North America and Europe with a particular interest in opera outreach.
Originally from Montreal, Anthony is recognized in Toronto’s Opera Scene for his “warm baritone and his magnetic stage presence” (Opera Canada). With over 30 opera credits performed, Anthony’s recent roles include Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Dandini (La Cenerentola) and Ford (Falstaff). In concert setting, Anthony has also performed as bass soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Fauré’s Requiem, Bach’s Magnificat in D, Schubert’s Mass in G and Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass and Vespers. As a stage director, he most recently directed Western University’s production of Così fan tutte as well as their opera and musical theatre scenes program since 2022.
Theodore Chow - piano
Theodore is a pianist from Edmonton, Alberta. Initially a graduate of Engineering Physics from the University of Alberta, he has since switched his focus to music, and is now pursuing a DMA at Western University, studying with professors Stéphan Sylvestre and Angela Park. Theodore primarily splits his time between chamber music and opera, being in high demand as a strings collaborator and also working as répétiteur and assistant conductor with Western Opera. Past performance highlights include performing as a soloist with the University of Alberta Symphony Orchestra, touring Spain and Canada as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and touring Newfoundland with his piano trio as part of the Tuckamore Travels series.
